This article describes the steps in upgrading your firmware to a newer release. Upgrading the firmware to newer releases fixes bugs and/or adds new features into the device. If you are experiencing problems with your device and are using an older firmware, please update the firmware before contacting technical support.

WARNING: Please back up all data on the device before continuing. Data loss could occur if these steps are not followed correctly. DO NOT TURN OFF THE UNIT during this process.

1. Extract the contents of this ZIP file to your desktop.
2. Go to the ASAP/NAS user interface in Internet Explorer.
3. Click on System Management --> Firmware Update.
4. Click on "Browse" and go to the desktop or wherever you extracted the *.bin file.
5. Highlight the *.bin file and click OK.
6. Click "Apply."
IMPORTANT NOTE: You may receive a Java console error, or an empty gray box. This simply means you have an older version of firmware that does not work with your current browser. Please do not turn off the unit or restart the process. Wait five minutes for it to finish. After the five minutes, please go to Step 9.
7. You may receive a dialog box asking for a username and password. Type in the user interface password and click OK.
8. You should now see a progress bar. Once it completes, it will ask you to press a button to restart. Press the button and it should come back with a "System Running" message. This may take a few minutes.
9. Go to System Reports > System Information.
10. Check the firmware version installed. It should now be changed to the firmware you just installed.
11. Go to System Management > Administrator Settings.
12. Choose "Restart Device" and then click Apply.
13. You should now see a message saying that the device is rebooting. Once that has completed you have successfully upgraded the firmware.
NOTE: If your previous firmware version is 1.34 or earlier, you MUST complete Steps 14-15. Restoring Factory Defaults will clear your IP, user, and any other system settings back to shipping default. Data will not be erased.
14. Go to System Management > Administrator Settings.
15. Choose "Restore Factory Defaults" and click Apply. The system will reboot and will come back online within a couple of minutes.
